so this is said to cover 3.1.2 - 4.0.1
I have tested this on my 4.0 iPhone 3GS and it works perfectly and is quick and easy
First go into settings in your phone, go to the safari section an make sure to accept cookies always and allow popups (can change this after)
Then open your Safari app and go to either
http://jailbreakme.com/ or
http://jailbreakme.modmyi.com/ on your device and just slide to jailbreak. If you get stuck on purple screen just refresh and go back to the page. Heres a couple screenshots from my phone
